The concept, the perception and the meaning of what we see as classic or original is as much a misconception as it is an ever changing quality that makes defining these evasive terms as difficult as experiencing. FLIP burger is a place that in many ways became known as a departure from tradition at its time, being one of the first inventive burger joints in the southeast that could warrant pricing a burger costing over $10 back in the day. It was in many ways revolutionary. Receptions ranged from shock to amazement to acceptance. As the concept expanded and many challengers elaborated upon it, the originality of idea that FLIP burger introduced to the local market can not be understated.
Today, it is somewhat of a confusing place to be. There is My Chemical Romance and Hoobastank blasting on the stereo. There are flat screen TVs in picture frames. There is a prevailing sense that time has stopped. The burgers of course, are as delicious as always. Oaxaca is flavorful. Fish burger is excellent. People are kind and helpful, in particular the gentlemen at the bar.
Not only does it feel a bit confusing, but the restaurant itself is in a confusing situation. Having to close down other struggling locations, the original is all that is left. The new owners who bought the concept rights planned a rapid expansion about a year ago, yet it has not happened. What will happen to FLIP burger? Will it become a national sensation of high end burgers along the likes of Shake Shack as the new owners intended, will it remain in a single location of warped time as it is today or will it fade into the history of local burgers along with the music that is still played here? -

I would give this place a 10 if I could!
Arrived in Atlanta in the evening and after traveling all day we were starving. Where could we eat at 930 pm at night? This place was near and closed at 10pm. Thought we would give it a shot, and so glad we did. Walked in and we were greeted warmly by many of the employees.
Everything looked good on the menu! They were so helpful and informative on helping hubby choose the right beer- provided free beer tasting sample.
For dinner we ordered the Shrimp Burger, BBQ Burger, Classic BCB, and an order of onion rings.
I looooved my shrimp burger! It was a good size patty of shrimp, no fillers. It came with lettuce, tomato, a slice of tempura lemon, and I had the cajunnaise sauce on the side ( a nice added kick). The BBQ burger was excellent too- Beef patty, topped with pulled pork, bbq sauce, and an apple fennel slaw.
The handmade onion rings were yummy. We used the cajunnaise as the dipping sauce, perfect combo.
A shout out to our server Tiffany! Great service and we thoroughly enjoyed our complementary milkshakes : )
Thank you so much!!!!
Great food, great service, would totally come back -

We had evacuated because of Hurricane Dorian, and decided to visit Atlanta. While out and about we found Flip burger and I am so glad we did! The restaurant is open and very clean. Everyone there is welcoming and ensured we had a great experience.
And the food? OMG delish! I order the NY Strip burger, and my only wish is that they were closer to Jacksonville, and they are that good! Bacon jam with a delicious bacon mayo... mmmm. The bun was soft and tasted fresh baked. The French fries had just the right amount of crunch and were seasoned well. I enjoyed a Nutella Shake, that was topped with marshmallows. They even top them with nitrogen for a cool blast. Love it!
Next time we visit, we hope to stop on to try new items off the menu. Thanks again for having us! -

Burgers and SHAKES are pretty good but i would definitely come back for the service! I live the variety of the menu and the atmosphere is unique as well.
Would 100% recommend this place. -

This is my second time at Flip Burger and I was not as impressed as I was last time. The burgers were ok but not worth the price. I ordered the Caribbean Fish ($12.5) and it was ok. It was nothing to rave about for the price and for a sandwich that does not include side.
My partner ordered the Impossible Burger ($15) and while the party was good, again the value is just not there and it does not come with a side. For a fast casual place, I think the value would be better at a five guys.
The onion rings ($5) were ok. They lacked flavor and for the price again the value is not there.
